Welcome to the 14th edition of EarthlyAlternatives.com. Firstly very importantly we would like to congratulate David de Rothschild and the crew of Plastiki for their successful voyage from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia. It is truly an amazing effort to bring the issues of waste and the effect our throwaway society has on our oceans. Read the article ‘Plastiki – the end of the voyage’ for more details. I am also pleased to hear the oil leak that began when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on April 20th 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico has finally been plugged. Unfortunately the environment and the communities that live and work in the Gulf will be suffering for many years, even decades to come. Disturbingly oil companies are fighting any attempt by the US government to place a moratorium on deep water drilling until the safety of these operations can be assured, I sincerely hope that common sense prevails. For those that have been reading EarthlyAlternatives.com you will notice the site has changed. It has a new look with a new format. In Plastiki – an end of the voyage we update you on the Plastiki and her crew’s progress in this valiant effort to bring our attention to the consequences of our wasteful habits and its effect on the environment, particularly our oceans. In Feng Shui for Business, Liz from Feng Shui Living gives us some tips on how to incorporate the principals of Feng Shui not only into the traditional areas such as buildings and environment but also the internet. We have an article by GP who took up meditating to tackle an ulcer, were he describes his trials and tribulations and funny moments developing some modicum of skill in Om, Gurgle, Gurgle. In Dollars and Sense, Coleen shares her words of wisdom with us on her 75th birthday and that age is just an attitude. Sally has finally decided to tackle her clutter problem and shares some of the ideas passed on by some of our readers in Sally’s Resolution – The Sacred Spot.
