Welcome to the 20th edition of EarthlyAlternatives.com.

Once again climate change is a big issue in Australia, with the Federal Government announcing its plan which includes a Carbon price or what some are calling a Carbon Tax. At a time when people are still flinching from the GFC and concern over the current financial issues in the United States, it doesn’t take much to make people fearful for the future. I discuss this issue further in the article ‘What Cost our Future.’

One of our readers sent us a link to a Youtube on a campaign by the WWF to save the Tigers of Sumatra. I found it clever, very interesting and informative without being preachy, so if you have a moment may I suggest you take a look, it only to catch a cool clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh4nWiRKe_Q&feature=youtu.be

Coleen tells us about a wonderful day out she had recently that didn’t cost a cent and how we miss these golden opportunities as we rush our way through life. In her Dollars & Sense – Simple Pleasures she reminds us to take the time to smell the roses and how these special moments are often the ones that stay with us through the years.

Coleen has also supplied us with an article on herbs and spices and how to use them. If you are interested in adding that little bit of something to your cooking but don’t know where to start read and possibly print out The Spice of Life.

On the 1st of June I was provided a wonderful opportunity to board the first ever boat to circumnavigate the world using solar power alone, the MV Tûranor PlanetSolar and to interview the founder and skipper Raphael Domjan. Read all about this epic journey and worthwhile project in Chasing the Sun.
